Devoured by the Elements of Emotion

Devoured by the Elements of Emotion

A Poem by Elizabeth Porterfield
"

Trying to describe the confusion of conflicting emotions in someone with a strong connection to nature and the elements...

"

Devoured by the elements of Emotion

Holding back a pain

Anger falling like the rain

Lightening anguish crackling

Across the sky of my mind

A thunderous rage filled scream

A vengeful tear on my cheek

As all the memories come flooding back

Of what used to be

The once peaceful plains

Of my consciousness

Now ripped apart

Torn by the ever twisting winds

Of a tornado of emotions

Its trembling fingers

Pulling at the roots of my sanity

This is the storm inside of me

The spark that lights the flame that burns

This is the evil that I see

The dark that wants, that needs, that yearns

This is the demon born

Of the lion and the lamb

This is the beast devouring me

Consuming everything that I am…

Dark and troubled for sure. Not sure what to say, than again I never am. Well written and well put.
