Chaos Inside of Me

Chaos Inside of Me

A Poem by Elizabeth Porterfield
"

A simple explanation...

"

Chaos Inside of Me

People wonder

Why I revel in Chaos

Why I relate to it

Why I claim it as my own

It is my nature

My element

I ruin peoples lives

Merely by existing

Chaos is my sister

My friend

My other self

She is me untamed

Untrained by society

She is my violence

My vengeance

The dark in me I can’t control

She speaks when I would remain silent

She rages when I try to stay calm

She is unafraid of the world

Of the words I fear most

She laughs when I would weep

At the misfortune of others

She brings death where I wish for life

And I can’t escape her

I don’t know how

She’s too much a part of me
