Stagnant

Stagnant

A Poem by Ellie Daniels
"

A poem of existential crisis during the twenties.

"

There’s something about youth

That I’ve been missing for

If it closes its door

Will my desire sooth?

I look how was my path spent

Yet memories itself transcend

I look how it was written

Everything flashes all of a sudden

Now nostalgia is on its way

Giving silent weird pain

Knowing how I walk under the rain

When weary things against me stay

Knowing when I had a friend

Never thinking it would end

That again when we collided

All memories now subsided

Bright days are the standard

When childhood is in regard

I miss these sweet old time

When no one cares for dime

When I am striving forward

I feel left behind

As if everyone has changed

And I’m the piece of yesterday

I felt farther than before

My steps are going slower

It feels a lonesome saunter

When strength is less to render

Then I know it’s real

My youth is on edges

And time will culminate

The part of my fate

If I have one to look back with

May they know the depth

‘Bout life being light and rough

‘Bout youth as short and tough

About
I feel suspended between time and eternity; between what is seen and unseen; between transient and long-lasting; between transcendent things and attainable ones, between dreams and opportunities; and .. more..
