On the Banks of that Soft Flowing River

On the Banks of that Soft Flowing River

A Poem by Ellie Bolstad

She did not really know what to think,

The problem came upon her in a blink.

The love he gave her is all she needs,

His decisions to hurt her, created by greed.

Sitting, on the banks of that soft flowing river.

She knew she would love him forever and on,

Yet he did not want her, so he was gone.

He made a bet,

She could never forget

On the banks, of that soft flowing river.

The only thing filling her is the heartache inside,

Too much to handle, making her blind.

Blind to people who love her so much,

Not paying attention or giving a thought.

Alone, on the banks, of that soft flowing river.

She sat, lonely and cold

Wondering why his love he withholds

He once meant so much but,

That was before she was cut

There, on the banks of that soft flowing river
