Cheater

Cheater

A Poem by Ginger With A Pen

A heart should be regarded as a rare jewel,

Something to be treasured and protected.

However, there will always be someone who sees a jewel as something to collect,

Pride will get the best of them.

Once they find one, they want many more.

And perhaps they will find one that they judge to be “better”,

They may even discard one of the others, because it now means less to them.

Don’t let them throw it around,

For it may crack, or shatter.

Jewels can be very fragile.

Don’t let this discourage you.

Remember that you have a beautiful jewel,

Right there in your chest.

Be careful who you give it to, and if they don’t want it,

Take it back, before they can scratch it.
