Albert Einstein, Relatively Speaking

By Elton Camp

His name a genius does mean

What he did is seldom seen

When he obtained college degree

No job as a scientist he could see

“You are a man of ability small.

We do not need you here at all.

You are nothing but a jerk

Go work as a patent clerk.”

Job was not as bad as it may sound

Was the way much time he found

Also was a doctoral candidate

With his peers he did debate.

He brought to physics ideas so clear

Published papers in his miracle year

Newton’s views he came to curse

Gave new way to view the universe.

Light is not just a wave at all

Made of many packets small

Photon theories led him to detect

Existence of photoelectric effect

In 1905, to say he dared

E equals MC squared

In laws of physics is fated

Energy and mass are related

New message he did send

Gravity causes light to bend

Some, the novel idea did fight,

Eclipse data showed him right

Dr. Einstein soon came to know

As speed goes up, time will slow

At near the speed of light

What happens is a fright

Special relativity was his theory

Only a few could see it clearly

Made him famous just the same

Millions his name did acclaim

The man decided to take a wife

To her, he gave a miserable life

“You are far from as smart as me,

Contemptible that makes you be

Babies you have come to bear

For you, no time I can spare

By the way, you know, of course

That I must have a quick divorce

Elsa, my cousin, will be new mate

Because you, I have come to hate.

If you do for me just as I tell

Will get money from Nobel

Though I have not won it yet

That I will is a very safe bet

Work in physics is so great

The prize I am sure to rate

Few understood a thing he wrote

They all still came on him to dote

But to the Nobel Prize committee

It seemed it was just an awful pity

Though we know prize is due

We hate to give it to that Jew

If only he were like one of us

And not some old Hebrew cuss

But found no reason why

The Nobel Prize to deny

But relativity they did not cite

Photoelectric effect, their delight

Due to Dr. Einstein’s great fame

Physics never again was the same

In science, he became the rage

Ushered in the atomic age.

Hi Mr. Elton Camp,
I love the way you use what I call (lovingly) "Yoda speak" by rearranging the sentences, either by moving the verb or the preposition(al phrases) (like Yoda did in Star Wars....that WAS Yoda, right?)

Anyway....not only does it make this piece extra interesting, it allows it extra flow....I also love the way you have taken an historical event, and, with poetic flare, made it interesting for the common "Joe." I learned something about history today!!!

Therefore, dear writer, your work was wonderful and awe inspiring. I cannot wait to read some more! Feel free to read mine, if you'd like...they are of a very different theme. The first one I placed is called "Those Three Words." I'd be interested in knowing what another really great writer thinks....I had another writer review me this morning whose work is breathtaking. Literally.

Have a wonderful weekend...Lori
