Don't tell me that I'm wrong,
I never intended to be perfect.

Don't tell me that you're proud,
I know disappointment will set in soon.

Don't tell me to be myself,
All you do is criticize.

Don't tell me that you're upset,
I make mistakes like everyone else.

Don't tell me that I don't care,
You have no idea.

Don't tell me that you see me,
You're never even here.

Don't tell me that you promise,
You're just gonna lie.

Don't tell me that I mean something,
You always treat me like nothing.

Don't tell me that I'm alive,
I already feel dead inside.

Words mean nothing when not backed up by actions. This poem is very relatable. I feel most have had at least one person in their lives that have been so mentally damaging that it stunts their emotional growth. It takes time and great introspection to get over the hurt other cause. You seem to have found a way to let the pain flow from you onto the page. Wonderful work, I truly enjoyed this poem.

Incredible!!! This reminds me of my parents and my childhood. It was like living in purgatory with two demons. This piece gave me chills. The hairs on my arms stood up. (Shivers)....excellent piece...
