Little Orphans

Little Orphans

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Little orphans are given
the bravest songs with
much more sadness.
An entire life
like a broken chain,
imagine how little will remain.
Held in a place
meant to be safe.
Wishing for a home
in the clouds,
but time never
keeps its word...
always wide,
or waits
or just mute.
Let us kiss the soul
of a loved one's smile lost.
One brave in being alive
when there might
be nothing more.
