Place of Peace

You can never 'unscar' me.

The damage is done.

These scars are witnesses

& have become my friends.

I am fighting wars inside

of what you did to me

& got away with.

Others wondering where

my happiness went.

There still come days

when pain wakes up with me,

but I am not here

to wish that same pain.

The world took care of me

& I will forgive you--

for myself, nothing for you,

& I will also thank you

for giving me this life lesson.

I am a fighter, hero

& living with trauma.

I set myself free,

living in my place of peace

because I let you go.
