The Devil's Place

The Devil's Place

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

I fell asleep
With that bottle in my hand
Wishing I would never wake.
I belong as a hostage
To my dreams.
My actions don't act positively
They are led by the Devil.
He is the voice
Inside my head.
He tells me that whatever is wrong, is right
And that whatever is right, is wrong.
That's the way he works.
The way he does business.
I have accepted this type of business.
This is the Devil's place
And I am caught up in it.
I don't belong here
But I am coping.
Slowly, but surely
I will survive this hellhole.

This reminds me of some one who has lost someone very close to them and they are struggling and not coping with the loss, whatever the loss maybe, in a positive way. Where drugs/alcohol may be the coping help they are choosing to use. This poem is very descriptive and it lets the reader know that they know this isn't how they want to be but can seem to fight off those demons inside. Great emotional write.
