Opening Up

I have opened myself up

I have spread my secret.

But I don't mind

Because its best that people

Know what I go through.

It is tough

But I have survived.

And I will continue

To survive this life.

I will prove to everyone

That I am not afraid

Of death.

I love the finality in the honesty. Its simply how you feel, no pretention about it. I admire the candor and the resolute emotion in the delivery. The brevity also helps it have a certain impact that may not have remained if it was long winded.

I'm a little confused. In the beginning you say that you want people to know that even though your life is hard, you have survived and made it through. But in the end, you say that you are not afraid of death. Insinuating, at least to me, that there is hope for your life to end. With that said, I really liked you poem! I love poems that make me think and even though your poem is short it definitely got me thinking. Life can be hard and we can survive many difficult life challenges but sometimes, or maybe all of the time, quite a few people, myself included, do not fear death. We have survived so much that death is just not a scary thought anymore. Great piece here! :)

The only person you have to prove anything too is yourself. It is hard at first to opened yourself up for the world to see but as you stated there is nothing to fear. Many people never reach this stage in life they live within a bottle but the few and brave venture outside of their comfort zone and find that life is worth living freely. I really like this write.
