I love this. I know well the feeling of wanting to manage on your own, at whatever cost, no matter how uncertain you are about where you're at. The person in this poem seems very close to some revelation that's going to make life easier. Really good ending, too, last line is fantastic.
I can relate, for there is nothing like freedom.... true freedom carrying along baggage and heaviness with the waves that rock back and forth and back and forth...
'Somewhere between
the wind and the waves,
is a lesson I still need to learn.'
I get lost in those words, dear friend... And you are right... We don't need a raft if we can swim...except perhaps for an occasional rest...
Emily, I love this...
and can so identify
it's all about the little boat, the journey and the rocky wake (the rougher waves often seem much more worth the trip than the calm water sometimes).. I love the message of saving yourself and maintaining your course despite the multitude of anchors
must have been a heavy dream... but then you turn it into positive, saying there is a lesson to learn.. so you are waiting till it appears to you.. .also a way. Much much better than going through drama is keeping patience, and wait, wait, wait. Nicely done this one. loved. (KUFU left you message (in form of a commentary on my 2nd piece)
There is a fragile charm in this writing, the images conjuring up the struggle and uncertainty of life and the will to find a safe harbour, a place of sure love...
I agree this is spectacular and my favorite of yours. I love that last verse..there is hope in it...Yes, a beacon...a magnificent piece of writing....it truly speaks...
to the Lost Boys
I am no Wendy;
but my voice brings you back to me.
And you sit around my feet,
anxious for a story
or a kiss.
Listening to my words
spinning adventures,
like so much g.. more..
