flighty

flighty

A Poem by Emily B

Capricious legs landed

on the limb of the tall, tall tree.

Wayward wings spread wide

in exultation of the smiling sun.

Giddy notes warbled unsteady

fluctuating through variable air.

Impetuous heart lifted--

uncertain--

on the wild wind.

But it wasn't a compliment,

was it?

You have such a way with words. And such a talent for packing so much meaning into so few words. "Impetuous heart lifted-- uncertain-- on the wild wind." Absolutely beautiful! What a feeling it would be to fly... your beautiful descriptions paint the picture and help me to imagine what it would feel like.

This is excellent. No wonder people go birdwatching.

There are few sights I like more in this world than the sight of a bird, just being a bird. I love this evocation of their timeless beauty.

thanks, i ate this with coffee and donut.

birds are so wonderful, that which they bring to the world, impetuous hearts, we share with them, and if we have the same heart, then we can fly with similar wings

"Come my pretty pretty..." whispered the tree...
and branches flowed and nest appeared...
the air sighed "Home..." and the music sang and sang into the eve...

...and with the morn
sun and heart returned
and wings tasted freedom again...
goodbyes echoed in the wind.

You bring thoughts and whispers Emily...
and song... and that says so much.

Take care,
Chris

This is amazing. I feel as if I see everything that is happening. The words you use are so descriptive, yet they allow the reader to use their imagination. I'm in love with this piece!

oh those capricious legs - like the wings here - capable of up and going - the temperament - wanderlust - your poems just hurl thoughts at me and they all spin and unravel - flighty is perfect for this! exactly what I was thinking - or free even - a wild wind - nice!
