Heartbroken...

Heartbroken...

A Poem by Sugar and Spice
"

"For a few minutes you made me feel as though I actually meant something to someone."

"
Tears spread like the cracks...
The cracks that spread through my heart...
That were there in the beginning...
You remember? The ones you mended...
Those cracks, breaking and bursting at the seems...
Bursting to the surface, spreading into lines of red...
This time your hands do not mend...
Your hands break everything that was left of me...
Breathing left heavy...
Eyes burning red...
Like the blood lining my skin...
How can you not know the pain you cause...
How if you ever read this, you would be so shocked...
You have no idea what you do to me...
How you can leave me feeling dead inside, but so happy on the outside...
I guess its true what they told me...
What I knew all along...
Giving your heart away can only bring you pain...
My trust in you has left me heartbroken...

That's the problem it seems, to give one's heart to another means to live without it, or be destroyed. Very vivid imagery and emotional diction made a very thoughtful write! Great job! I hope the scars of love don't scare you from it's tenderness, only time can heal the wounds so deep seeded in our hearts that only our eyes can tell of it's existence and our lips tremble at it's remembrance. :) Keep up the good work!

Beautiful for it's harrowing and brutal portrayal of love doing the opposite of what it is meant to. The heart is such a fragile thing. To entrust it to someone is an honour beyond measure, yet somehow, they grow weary of it, believing it to be their property, when in fact it is, but when it is treated badly, it withers, suffering the cruellest of deaths. If only people treated it like the priceless commodity it is and valued it like the treasure it is.
Beautifully written. Thank you so much for sharing.

That`s very deep. Quiet relatable to life; heart and love. We all get broken in love; always learn something new from love. Love teaches our heart and we guide it to ... no direction. And, by the end of the roads, some kinda brisked winds come across the way of life and take everything, we`ve earned in love, away of our spirit. Very deep insights you`ve pierced into such deep down "heartbroken" words. Keep writing! ;)

God this is good, one of my favorites. You’ve done a great job capturing the pain in such few words. I agree it’s very relatable.

It's always a gamble to give your heart away but it's human nature to keep doing it regardless of how much pain and betrayal it can bring or how much you can deny ever trying again. Nicely structured. Keep it up. I'm pretty much a horror fiction writer but work like this inspires me to write more poetry myself.
