Oblivion

Oblivion

Oblivion

You threw away the key to your cage of ten years,
Closing the gate to the world embracing your fear.
The hardest of hearts, you’ve learned to control how you feel,
Until there comes a day where nothing to you will seem real.

You’ve done this all yourself.

CHORUS:
Your hate of everything that tries to hold you to the world,
Afraid to die an honest man;
It breaks me just to watch you in the haze.
Today, will you break the shell or will you revel in the numb?
One day, you’ll wake up to find your own oblivion.

The cold’s crawling in,
Controlling the points of your view.
It’s not just you, or you and I;
Everyone has tried to breathe into you
For fear they will leave you behind,
And darling, this is not what you want.
The self-destruction of your mind,
Eroding your soul.

You’ve done this all yourself.

CHORUS

Surely, you would rather hurt.
I know you want to feel it burn.
There’s something underneath that wants to show you how to be real.
And maybe now you’re too content,
But you know the sun will soon appear
And leave you with only yourself to blame.

I come to you with arms wide open.
I come to you with arms wide open.

CHORUS X2

I can identify with this overall feeling; I have felt this way. Sometimes such return of love is not recognized but to see it must be a part of every person's life.

The line "You've done this all yourself" is something I recognize today when I can see point blank something I've done completely idiotic. For instance, running into my mother's car by forgetting to look backwards. ...sometimes we do not understand blame but that each person effects another person, even when we see where someone else is off, we are each off in some ways that do not bother ourselves that we know except that they bother others and these are our weaknesses. I'm Bette that you agree; but we do not always see clearly like it.
