Tomorrow Never Came

Tomorrow Never Came

A Poem by K. Barrios

Life is an everlasting wait

for a destination that is left unknown.

We fight and journey through

a path that is never shown.

Full of darkness and such sadness,

a never-ending fight.

Walking on and on

with no flashlight.

No flashlight, compass, or map.

No north star to show us the way.

Not knowing if we’re walking into a trap

or if we’re becoming prey.

Then someone comes and tells you,

“It’ll be okay.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Blue sky, white clouds and no gray.”

It’s okay for a while,

but then the sun starts to set.

Your smile begins to fade

and the darkness becomes a threat.

That person is gone

and your skies are cloudy and gray.

You remember their words

and realize tomorrow never came.
