Tongue Tied

Tongue Tied

A Poem by EpiphanyPrince (Adam)
"

Musicians need writers and writers need musicians.

"

It is as cold

As an empty heart

I loved her

I can’t remember

The start of the storm

I don’t remember.

When her love covers pain

Like frost on a window

It all feels the same

How can loving you

Be to blame

Dressing your heart in hate.

(Pre-Chorus)

I saw the way

You didn’t hesitate

In your eyes

There was no sense of a mistake

You can die

When love breaks

You can die

When love feels

Like a waterfall from hate.

(Chorus)

I cried for you

But the tears dried

As you were tongue tied

To another guy

I’m not stinking around

For more lies

I’m not going to try another time

I’m taking my love from you

It is your turn to stare into

A dry sunrise.

Two shots of poison

Shells of pain

Two more to clear any happiness

From my brain

Time circles slow

Around sorrow

How does a heart know

It heals tomorrow.

Now you have me

At goodbye

The fortune’s been crushed

With no paper inside

I am a living hollow

An empty basket

Floating down a river

Thorns without roses.

Love is a twisted forecast

When wrong can feel right

The devil’s temptress

Comes out to play at night.

(Pre-Chorus)

I saw the way

You didn’t hesitate

In your eyes

There was no sense of a mistake

You can die

When love breaks

You can die

When love feels

Like waterfalls from hate.

(Chorus)

I cried for you

But the tears dried

As you were tongue tied

To another guy

I’m not stinking around

For more lies

I’m not going to try another time

I’m taking my love from you

It is your turn to stare into

A dry sunrise.

(Bridge)

Choking on a silver bullet

I can remember the moment

You lied to your heart

And the love died.

A magician to love

Disappears in the night.

The beginning

Was the end

Sweet nothings

Spoken softly is your demon

Blinded by the pale light

Of the moonshine at midnight.

Lies in your eyes

Holds the hand

To love without a friend.

(Pre-Chorus)

I saw the way

You didn’t hesitate

In your eyes

There was no sense of a mistake

You can die

When love breaks

You can die

When love feels

Like a waterfall from hate.

(Chorus)

I cried for you

But the tears dried

As you were tongue tied

To another guy

I’m not stinking around

For more lies

I’m not going to try another time

I’m taking my love from you

It is your turn to stare into

A dry sunrise.

Stepping out of the shadows

To good things never last

Alone in the hollows

Scars of a tongue tied heart

Marks from the lies

Love blinds a broken heart

From seeing futures past..
