Endless Travelling

Endless Travelling

A Poem by ErinGreenway

I've been travelling for awhile now
Down this cold, empty road
There are no signs to point me where to go
Nobody to ask what direction to turn
Even if there were signs or people
I wouldn't know which to follow or what to ask
Because I don't know where I'm going

I've been travelling for awhile now
No one by my side
There is no hand to hold
I might of had companions once
Though they were probably only an illusion
Even if I were not alone
They would disappear as quickly as they arrived
Because they don't know where I'm going

I've been travelling for awhile now
Don't know when I'll be through
No idea what destination I'll reach
Someone threw me out here on my own
Not caring if I'd know what to do
Even if I knew
I wouldn't want to do it
Because I'm not going anywhere

What a sad journey. We all look for meaning in our journey, and for company and guidance along the way. Yet to have found it, the narrator leaves the reader meandering into and empty future.
