I Heard a Crowd Cheer At Death

I Heard a Crowd Cheer At Death

A Poem by EsReverniDrawrof
"

In college, my instructor had her students finish a poem starting with "I heard a _______ when I died". This is my response.

"
I heard a crowd cheer when I died
No remorse, no sad tears to be cried
My family in hiding, ostracized, shunned
For the evil deeds upon this earth I had done

My hunger to kill, my thirst for blood never sated
Heinous were the recipes for murder that I created
Oh what stimulation to hear my victims feeble cries
as I so meticulously brewed their ritualistic demise

My revelry destroyed by a slight consequential capture
My circumstance, my providence: a damned soul forever after
My execution a deemed celebration, the public cheers and roars
Ha! I'll be the one whose last laughing as I return to settle the score
