Sunshine

I wrote this one while mourning the death of a close friend. RIP Lucky.

It began with “hello.”

A smile and a handshake.

A subtle refusal to maintain the silence.

A joke, a laugh, a quiet “how are you?”

 

Over time, it flourished.

Blossomed like a flower in the sun.

Quiet walks, fun discussions.

Time spent together meditating.

 

Throughout, we both learned.

Similar likes. Similar dislikes.

A love of dancing and singing.

Putting on private shows for no one.

 

You left too soon.

Never will find another like you.

Never told you what it meant to me.

Never will know how much I love you.

You were my sunshine.

You were my friend.
