On the Outskirts

On the Outskirts

A Poem by Esoteric Strand
"

I find the 'ID' channel a wellspring of inspiration. Something about Women-In-Peril really gets the juices flowing.

"

She scribbled the details.

Predictably, her pen ran out of ink.

If only there were other explanations.

Staggered with a rough crowd

Played with a frayed string of admirers.

If only there were other explanations.

Just brash party-girl trash

playing Russian Roulette every night.

Whoring, journaling, entry for each entry.

Old leads just flow away,

and an army of swabs can do no good.

We’re all left grasping at the weakest smoke wisps.

Black and white police shot:

You can’t tell, but the puddles are all red.

If only there were other explanations.

She was last seen running.

So mixed up, she’d lie to protect the truth.

Caught by daymares, living hallucinations.

Every girl is jealous of every girl.

There is no other explanation.

On the fringe of morality, sanity, and life. We are strange animals.

This is a twisted tale and the imagery painted clearly. I like the line There is no other explanation.

The ID channel? I think I'm glad I turned the T.V. off seven years ago... interesting, almost as If I was reading about Lindsay Lohan twitter tweets... lol.

Fist three stanzas are gold. The last four, reality at awakening. Such crisp writing and spot on visuals, it's like eatin' potato chips.... got another bag?
