Double Edged Sword

Double Edged Sword

A Poem by Jamie Reading

What cuts me, cuts you.
I see the blood run down my face.
But it does not run down yours.
I see myself lost.

Heaven and Hell, i knew no concept of until this.
The joy we shared, the knives you buried in my back.
I did what i could, i gave up everything for this.
My pride, my dignity.

Where was our happiness
We lost it somewhere on the way.
The flowers i gave you wilted.
And the gifts you gave me became arrows.
Piercing all i held to be truth.

I was asked why do you love me?
The only answer i had was
Because i am who i am, and you are who you are.

The happiest day of my life was with you.
So was the worst.
When you left me behind.
I lost myself trying to follow.

Why do we love?
Because to each of us,
Because i am who i am, and you are who you are.
