Let Us Not Imagine Life In Death

Let Us Not Imagine Life In Death

A Poem by Eva Rosehill

We like to believe in death we live
And perish not in pain,
Yet to comprehend what lies ahead
Would drive a man insane,
Some say death is oblivion,
The endless days of night,
And some believe, our sanctuary there,
Full of tenderness and light,
But who, do tell, has told you this,
And to have passed between these realms,
To think of such a possibility causes thoughts to overwhelm,
So let us not think of life in death,
But life as we live today,
For my friend it should not be death you fear,
But the thoughts that lead you astray.

I would like to say something
but let me just admire this piece
with reverent respect;
with my hat down and in solemn silence .

Even death, you can make it sound beautiful
with just your thoughts and your pen
So much insightful introspection.
That I just now be able to behold .
