Farewell

Farewell

A Poem by EverEmma

Withered

From love or war

Now her world is at peace

But her heart still lingers from him

Farewell

Ive never tried to make a cinquian. Great idea. The last line really ties it all together and brings it all in. I love it!

This is a 2-4-6-8-2 Adelaide Crapsey style cinquian. Nice to read a form poem around-- that's cool.
Like your use of color-- adds a contemporary flavor to the form. Also like how you built up to the "Farewell". Nice work Emma.

The major stood graveside, long after they had lowered her casket into the ground. Tears had fallen when he had received the letter from her mother speaking of the illness. He had hoped it would be overcome. The war had finally ended and he had returned. Yet, his return had been to late. The illness had become severe in the last weeks of his deployment. Now, he realized he was to late to tell her. To late to let her know of his plans to marry her. Now, all he could do was let her live on in memory. A memory that would forever keep her love for him near.

A beautiful piece Emma!
