White Pearls

White Pearls

A Poem by EverEmma

A mystery of it's own
Lace veil atop the wedding cake
A small figure peering out the top

Gone, bow tie and all
Heels kicked off
Champagne poured

Bubbles flowing,
From the glass's stained sides
Blush wiped off

An initialed handkerchief
A useless promise
The pastor sits and crys

"I do", she says
Fingers crossed behined her back
While eyeing her uncle's pocket knife

The puppy slides the jewel,
On her silken finger
Oh, those big trusting eyes

She was the puppetmaster
He was just the strings
"Oh who cares!" she laughed

Cruel, guilty, (insert curse word)
She's no princess,
because he had no queen
