an effective write that certainly invites comment
well done!

pigeonholing poetry by strict definition is same intent as stereotyping people
if you 'owned poetry' then it is as you say
but you don't!
the fault of experts is self-imposed ignorant limitations

poetry is as what one provides not as others define

Fine write Frederick, yes our imagination takes us to the stars as does to paper. And as for writing well we put it out there with one view in mind only to be taught other views.

A wonderful poem dear Frederick.
"poetry should be...
Poetry

should sometimes feel like a well-worn sweater
familiar and comforting, it brings you home
when you have been away too long

Poetry

should feel like a dirty knife stuck in your gut
by your most trusted friend. Seeing him sleep
with your wife. Your eyes blood shot, gasping
in a bitter breath…why?

Poetry

should spill carelessly from the gilded tongue
of an arrogant man so cocksure of himself
there is a rude awakening coming in his stead.
He will never out live the legend in his own head.

Poetry

should take hours of rewrites, painstakingly she searches
for the words to get it right, the palpation's of her
heart exudes both nervousness and regret. She hides
her tears in song to live on in the night

Poetry should be"
I liked how the ancient poet described words and when we write. We should write of dreams and things gone. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Especially like the second verse Freds. Where would we be without our poetry eh? I love to travel the stars too.
