Just A Soul

Just A Soul

A Poem by Anne Korhonen
"

A Christian lamentation poem about doubt and sin

"
I'm just a soul drifting
between God and Satan shifting
I'm breathless and hollow
after bliss sorrow must follow
My body is unrecognized
Spiritual and mesmerized
I'm just a piece of material flesh
wrapped in mesh

You have become a shadow
because of your life so low
You can't see yourself up or below
you have become a lost soul steady and slow
a soul separated from the body
a stranger to yourself and everybody
metaphysics as your field of study
the spirit world as your buddy

The spirit is like air
unable to touch or stare
invisible
yet vulnerable
to all of the destructive toxins
breaking its shell by sins
the soul and body are twins
the state of mind reflects on skin
sorrow adds wrinkles to your chin

The souls are constantly searching
for purpose emerging
in this body made of water
that can turn into ice
by its rain of tears
A blind cover of fog
Above a pond to rise
to make the view unclear
Hard like the essence of clogs
Complex like the soul life of dogs
Body is the prince, soul is the frog
