"nameless"

"nameless"

A Poem by Kelly

Strangers tell him
“thanks for what you did”.
He loiters there
and stares at me for an answer.
He glares at the elderly couple
with vacant eyes
and a empty smile.

To survive he remained emotionless;
displaced from the world around him.
He did his job without question.
He stares at the couple
wondering what he did it all for.

He realizes
he did it for that couple.
For the years they spent becoming
American history.
For the men who died in wars,
For the people who tested
changing American culture,
for race riots and war rally’s.
For those who chased their dreams
and failed.
He did it so their past was history;
their future obtainable.

Kelly
fresh poem. slash and burn lines? good word choices? not enough emotion? too much? topic too over done? i need some constructive critisim. i edited some of the text as i was working on it last night.

I rather enjoyed this piece as it to me pays tribute to those who lost their lives fighting for our freedoms... A very well earned salute for writing this .

I really like it and i wish there were a little more emotion! I can see what you are saying and with a bit more emotion it would be a great piece. Thanks for checking my spelling...lol! I was in a hurry when a posted it and did not look over it.
