Christmas Time and Granny's Pies and other baked goods too.

A Poem by Falcon1
"

Celebrate My Mother

"
I loved the fresh pies mother used to Bake
On Thanksgiving Or for Christmas Day
cookies she would bake Icing with
Green and Red sugar crystals

on top of short bread cookies
fresh from mom's stove I had a tingling up my nose
In a minute i was off
with a flash into the kitchen arose with a clutter with a sash to get

some of mom's Fresh cookies
with sprinkles of love and many blessing
She made them with love from her heart
For she could not share in the fun

she was diabetic and baked out of the love
For her family which her had plenty of them
seven Little ones of us ages 15-1 and we all shared the same problem
a sweet tooth until it got loose

and then the dentist
pulled it and the sweetness was gone
we never had another problem
because our sweet tooth was Gone
.
For now at Christmas time we miss
Granny's Pies
For she was the family Baker
and holidays she was the best home maker.
For it was Christmas time and granny's pies and for them we had eyes.

Thanks for your So Kindly Review.
I understand this poem. The old faces and kind people we shall miss forever. The holidays do bring back the memory of dear grandparent and the family days missed. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you for memorializing this delicious, well-stated slice of your childhood nostalgia! *smile* I used to say -- I don't have a sweet tooth, but every tooth in my mouth is sweet! Living on a farm with a constant stream of eggs & cream, my mom "had" to make desserts for every meal, it seems, cementing all our tendencies to have sweet teeth! But fortunately now my sweet addiction is a little bit more tamed! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
