Sewn Shut

Sewn Shut

A Poem by Kelsey

The words are stuck, pressing against the back of my teeth

They garble in my throat

Mixing letters

Changing meanings

Choking choking choking

Swallowed words only come back up like bile

But hide behind the tight lipped mouth

I shake and nod my head

Find meaning find meaning

Find meaning desperately through my expressions

I beg and beg please

I can’t speak I won’t

I’ll die

Like blood after a gun wound

The words fill my mouth

But are sewn in

How will you hear me

How will you hear me

How will you hear me?
