A Portrait

A Portrait

A Poem by Farin.Kehoe
"

I came across an artistic photograph of a woman who had taken her life in a beautiful antique bathtub. Someone actually hung this picture is there bathroom. It was tragically beautiful.

"

A portrait of  suicide

your portrait

black and white

hangs

in a shabby downtown apartment

crooked on a brick bathroom wall

your delicate frame

coated in a storyboard of ink

 draped over the white porcelain

a slash of crimson ribbon

wrapped around your wrist

a cigarette burns out

between chipped nails

your head

suspends from your shoulders

with an easiness I have never encountered

a relief

i imagine

you stopping time from trickling down the drain

to float
