Darling Bird

Darling Bird

A Poem by Fearless Sunshine

When we were young back in the brighter days,

It seemed like there were a thousand ways

To make a smile spread across your face.

But years go by and by way too fast.

Now there’s no letting go of the past.

There’s no magic spell to make it last.

As a person you’ve never been sure

But I’ve never seen you this insecure.

Don’t go walking out the door.

Now I have faith in you and whatever you do, visit me someday.

I know you won’t believe me but just know it’s true, remember me someday.

You are so beautiful no matter what you do, love yourself someday.

When the little white dove had a broken wing,

Little white dove still knew how to sing.

Little white dove could do anything.

And you’re just like the little white dove.

My darling bird, you still know peace and love.

But sometimes there is no limit, you’ve just got to stop giving up.

But why do I make comparisons

With all of your differences.

You got shot down more than once,

But you’re still stronger than for that to be enough.

You’re beautiful and are still on top.
