Every Night

Every Night

A Poem by Fegger
"

...and I was never seen.

"

I am the moonlight

That slips through

Unguarded windows;

Resting weightless hands

Across your sleeping skin.

Lines of perfect form

And curvature explored

Unaware, unannounced,

By tender filaments

Of illuminated air.

I dare not reach your eyes

In fear that I must retreat

Upon discovery

Of my curious event.

I use the dark,

And its silence

To foster my

Desired anonymity.

By morning’s light,

You will not notice,

The etchings of love

I have drawn upon you;

Yet, I believe that

In the warmth

You will come to know

That I’m here

With you

Every

Night.

once in a while, someone leads me to words that I wish I might have written myself . . . it was a pleasure to read you this morning

What a divine piece of art. Many nights in a new house I have slept without a curtain on the window watching the moon. To think the moon also watches me and traces my silhouette while sleeping. I love the intimacy in this poem.

Emma suggested that I read this and I can honestly say, she has great taste! This is such a beautiful poem, well-crafted and flows elegantly off the tongue. The imagery is pure mystical, magical and touching. This is definitely going in my favorites!

I was brought here by Emma and now i understand why:)

This was engagingly brilliant. You enticed me fully throughout the length of the piece. Loved this part:

"I am the moonlight
That slips through
Unguarded windows;
Resting weightless hands
Across your sleeping skin.
Lines of perfect form
And curvature explored
Unaware, unannounced,
By tender filaments
Of illuminated air."

Fantastic!

A amazing poem. The strong description allow the poem to become stronger and making the ending have reason and purpose. I like the flow and the gentle pace of the words. A outstanding poem. Thank you.

It's a lovely piece but I'd lose the caps-they are distracting and I'd break this up a bit.
