Absent Shadow

Absent Shadow

A Poem by Serena Riley
"

a poem about a young girl, about sixteen years old,who is trying to discover who she is but she can't find her self in anything she does.

"
I look for you in the crowd
I have no doubt that you are here, but all my fears are combined into one and what is done cannot be undone;for you are the only one who can undo the messes you make and count the amount of breaths you take,I am forsaken,I am forgot,my shadow has been put to a stop,no longer can I see the woman I would be if you hadn't taken my independence from me,I look for my shadow in large groups of hope,I completely devoted myself to fixing this mess, looking for the best in all I should be,but obviously my shadow doesn't miss me,it only sees who I could, who I should be
the absent shadow I see is the shadow that represents me,now I know and now I see what it shows, each day the absence grows like a flower in a field of illusions, this absent shadow follows me like a lingering love or a sunken ship, this absent shadow has a tight grip.

Absolutely love. A confused and lost mind put into words with amazing passion and elegance
