Spotlight on us

A Poem by Jessica

One short night in a middle school gym
In a beautiful corset, I shined like a gem
Apparently, you agree
I can tell by the way you stared at me
Coming to talk to me every few minutes
Never failed to leave me breathless

My ruby red lips parted in a smile
Looked like it made you happy for a little while
Leaning against the bleachers, looking all cool
Made me fight so I wouldn't drool
The fact that your ex wasn't near
Gave me nothing to fear

The music faded with your voice
It left me no choice
I fell again, fell so hard
I guess I chose my card
