The Weeping Willow

The Weeping Willow

A Poem by Dominik D. Rites
"

I made this song when I was a little kid and I have no idea why. It just popped into my head one day and I was just reminded of it. Thought I would at least complete it and turn it into a poem (:

"
The wind blows ever,
gently,
beneath the weeping willow.
The grass is ever,
green,
beneath the weeping willow.
The strings of life,
hang,
beneath the weeping willow.
Such things unseen,
seen,
beneath the weeping willow.

The ghosts walk ever,
quietly,
beneath the weeping willow.
The children sing ever,
softly,
beneath the weeping willow.
Love lives ever,
lively,
beneath the weeping willow.
Death comes ever,
looming,
beneath the weeping willow.

A cast of moving shadows,
dance,
in cheer and sorrowful,
cries,
in calming hallow winds,
weeping,
with long quivering eyes.

Nothing stirs ever,
alive,
beneath the weeping willow.
All who pass soon,
die,
beneath the weeping willow.

Weep,
the willow,
weep.

Author's Note

I have no idea where I got the inspiration to start singing about a weeping willow as a kid, but I think it may have come from the idea of death and from reading a bit of dark poetry like Edgar Allen Poe and from watching one too many creepy horror movies about kids. I really like the atmosphere I envision however whenever I sing it or read it, so I hope others feel the same. It's a very dark and ominous yet strangely beautiful feeling.
