The Unwanted Friend

The Unwanted Friend

A Poem by Dominik D. Rites
"

Being unwanted isn't exactly a new thing for me.

"
Your feet scathed the ground
as you came swinging down,
your skirt caught in the wind
- unaware of what I was in.

Shock is a strange emotion,
one that gives you the notion
that the world is sitting still
and that notion is hard to kill.

Sadness fills my tiny heart
as I wait for my turn to start,
but as the clouds close, I wait.
It's beginning to get a bit late.

I wonder if you have forgotten
- or perhaps my mind is rotten.
The door opens and you prance,
clumsily celebrating in dance.

I follow behind with a frown
and let my head hang down.
I bump you from right behind
and watch as you turn to find

that I have been all alone
- and to that, I felt prone.
Waiting, I was, to play,
and to that, you say,

"We didn't want to play with you anyway."

Having friends that purposefully exclude you is worse than not having friends at all.

Agreed. That can be seen as a type of bullying and is by all rights disingenuous and abusive. Thanks for sharing.
