Anger's Fire

Anger's Fire

A Poem by Diane Gaffney
"

Poem about anger not fully expressed.

"

ANGER’S FIRE

Deep inside they smolder;

         old and

incompletely burned

are these memory pieces.

They spark and sputter

         Hidden in dark corners,

Not felt or seen.

         Not now anyway.

Fires that once raged"

uncontrollable

         overcoming all reason…

Allowed to burn like red tongues of destruction,

         Consuming everything in their path.

Frightening and deafening the sight and sound

         Of these fires raging,

Until apparently snuffed out

by the terror

of being consumed…

Yet deep inside they still smolder…
