A Poem by Folagbade Muyiwa

Listen
Let me tell you what I will do
when you finally become mine.

I'll close my eyes
Shut them eyeballs to your bad tides
Give 'em an opportunity to brood in Arabia
Let 'em connect to that tiny source behind the light
Beckon on the beaming rays of hope
And then, I will shine it right in your face.

I'll run!
Straight out of my skin
I'll leave the soothing skin in your hands
While I display the ugliest parts of my skeleton.
I'll leave you with nothing that you cannot relate to.!

I'll sit at the gate
Keeping matters attended to.
I'll keep the locks in place,
Let the flies stay away from the bins
And put the visitors in their right place.

I'll tickle
So hard you'd think I got electrocuted...
Well,
your happiness will be enough to give that sensation.
When I get lifted off my feet,
Like one raised by a transformer...
Well,
Hold your Victory responsible.

I'll.... I'll...... I'll
Give you a taste that surpasses talin
..... I'll put my cloak under your feet,
forget my head on your bosom,
I'll hold you up the stairs,
Hug you till you are warm in my dream.

I'll not stop listening
I'll not stop learning to talk

I'll hold my hands up and say :
My freedom swims in your blood....
And I'll make you say:
My heart pumps your blood.....
