Was it Worth it?

Was it Worth it?

A Poem by Forgotten

Let me strike the venom from the wicked,
Let your crooked emotions no longer damn us,
Oblivion can wait for my bitter blood,
Let the taste linger in your mouth,
I'll smirk as your mind tears itself to pieces,
As your soul turns into molten tar,
Maybe you should have not have wielded,
The Steel Banshee.

Do you hear her cries let it burn your eyes,
Let your water turn to poison at your touch,
I know you see her everywhere you turn,
It hurts doesn't it?
You walk upon a world with a fractured spine,
Spitting out bile like yourself,
A putrid mess of self hatred for the world,
Tell me does it hurt when you pull that trigger?
Or did the sting die long before your soul?

What does it matter you'll never learn,
You see the demon lingering in your eyes,
The animus tears a rift in your heart,
One day you'll feel the pain you caused,
When you smoulder in the heat of Lucifer's flames,
So let me ask you...
Was it worth it?

This is a powerfully raw piece. Loved the line "Or did the sting die long before your soul?" and they Title's inquiry and end.

A lot of great imagery in this piece I found one line a bit awkward, it may flow better as, "maybe you should not have wielded.."

"A putrid mess of self hatred for the world,

Tell me does it hurt when you pull that trigger?

Or did the sting die long before your soul?"

Believe it or not, I know people like this. People who see the worst in theirselves and take it out on the world and the people around them. This speaks to the darkness of the soul and is very much worth the read. Powerful!

A powerful and emotional journey in this poem. I like the anger and the directness. The ending made the poem complete. In the end we pay for all sins. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

This is a visceral and pungent piece; I felt myself sneering as I was reading it...there is some savage hatred flowing throughout this write that rather made my flesh crawl. I mean that in the nicest way possible *laugh* Thanks so much for spewing this upon us...I really enjoyed it...now I'm just going to go and towel off xD

your welcome and now that's something smart that I can completely believe in
Wow.....this is in your face forceful...demanding an answer. "Was it worth it?". Too many find out far too late that it wasn't. Oh the pain that is inflicted by evil acts!! Fantastic poem!! ;-)

Pretty cool, I loved the line "The animus tears a rift in your heart"
something tells me you and me would get along really well if we ever hung out.
Great job!
