Flower of the Sun

~ *Dedicated to Lily Sun * ~

So perceptive is this flower,

Who rests beneath the warm rays,

Of a sun whose love can never weave,

In a direction that is spread awry from-

Her dark hair,

A cascading wave that rolls around her,

While in quiet serenity she rests,

In languid repose untouched and strengthened,

A pillar that lasts forever within the soft grass . . .

I could not speak for her or the wild garments,

Of sage, mimosa, and violet roses which scour about her,

Clothing and fineries which happily wreath the meadow,

With a dignified strength that lace around the outskirts,

Of the sunflowers which grow unseen in the shallow-

Berth that dips within the brazen bold-

Hills that crest beneath the sun for eye’s liking,

That is an easy target for the eye as well ~

She so soft and deeply unobtrusive, lives in the dip-

And the circle of the sunflower molds her face,

For her face might well be that pollen head . . .

I could never give words these true meaning,

None that polish what is untarnished,

To flow along the stem that flourishes brightly-

And attempt to liken her beauty with pen,

It would put my poor talents to shame-

For beneath the softened, sunlight glow-

Her body long and mellow is the spiral.

Her black eyes serve as long forgotten pieces-

Called the stigmas,

Dark and unyielding is this strength,

That we could never really see-

Hidden within these innocent petals-

And I would bet that her hair is to be considered-

The infloresceno, or the sunflower’s wings,

And a tender piece of this genteel garment Earth wears-

The less seen but the wisest jewelry,

That God has yet bestowed,

Which provides for everyone,

What we always overlook . . .

A vision,

A beauty and a grace less advertised.

Overlooked somewhat but forever-

An essential piece of each bare thread-

Which creates the finishing touches,

The feminine diamonds or the ‘lady’s wear’

That which a woman cannot do without,

And men verbally abuse while really loving.

The wings of the soft flower delicate,

That adds its strength to the Yin and Yang,

And the nourishing essence,

We will soon forget until we see it sprout again . . .

In the springtime meadows,

The sunflower ~

There is so much ancient, and brilliant style into this piece, I so enjoyed reading, your phrasing, is soft, and classic. I felt at home, and well balanced here. Your ending stanzas are so good! Thank you for letting me into your world.
