Alone

Lost in the darkness, can’t anyone

Hear my screams?

A female voice warbles, it’s notes drifting into night, and then

Slowly fades. Another voice gently comes to join in reply, with notes that mimic

A sad, old, long-lost tune, upon the edge

Of a trillion skies.

I shiver in the cold, and wrap my arms around myself to hug

Away its hold. Tears come like rain, crashes over Satan’s brow, a winding flow that

goes around

A snout, that dribbles with angry heat, and eyes that pierce the heart and soul, black like

charcoal shakes the pit, with embers glowing ruby red, that

Popping from the skull, bring to mind an ugly witch, and tries to put the fire out that’s,

raging deep within. I rock myself to sleep, the sound of

melancholy voices closing in. Can anyone hear my screams tonight? Except for the cacophony of ghosts, I am . . .

Completely alone.
