No Paticular Subject

A Poem by Fran Marie

No Particular Subject

They're but mere thoughts upon paper
elected utensil 'tis the mighty pen
It slides across white parchment
becoming a wordmaker
combined with action from one's hand

No particular subject
A poet writes of many things
A concave line~here~ and ~there
lends a little decor zing.

You need not attain a license
nor a prestigous college degree
Poetry evolves from within, a sixth sense
what is in your soul for all to see.

So fidget and fuss, if you must
because haste makes waste,
so we are told
Nevertheless,take your pen from case
Lest it turns to rust.
and you'll rescue your words to unfold.

For a Poet has his pen
and 'Tis mightier than the sword'
and writes of dreams so beautiful
A gift to guide the world.

Well, I know that I am often unsure about what I am writing and definitely about sharing it...but this piece makes me feel braver about it, if I don't need a license or a college degree...but can just write to bring out that which is within, thanks so much for your writing Fran, and your inspiration!

Fran, this is a beautiful write...

They're but mere thoughts upon paper
Selected utensil 'Tis the mighty pen
It slides across white parchment
Becoming a wordmaker
Combined with action from one's hand

And what a wonderful way for each one of us to release thoughts and feelings, but with "The mighty pen!"
Thanks for sharing, lady! :)

I would fall over dead if my pen were to turn to rust...I mean, I have my days where I don't write, but that doesn't mean I'm not cultivating ideas, garnering ideas...or thinking about writing...
This is a great ode to the writer...not just poets....but writers the world over...If you are blessed to have an ability to move the readers...then yes....keep on writing....dont put that pen down!!

I love the inference of power and what the pen means to a writer. The font and style is wonderful. I makes you want to read on. Very good write.

So true, I still don't know what real poetry is, other than people like Kipling or Barret/browning, but I do know good writing and can see whether content is not obscure...so many write in a genre that is obscure every time. This, however, pointed out that poets don't follow rules...I don't think there are any rules!
Punctuation is all over the place or there's none at all. So I say go for it, if it makes you happy.
Helen.

I like verse three very much as it is true. You can't be taught to have poetry if you do not. At least I don't think so.

I love this anthemic piece - a tribute to the act of writing. And yes, if we don't...the words slip away and the tools rust. Nicely done.
