In Another Time

I knew you in another time

 and place accepting 

your bold advances

destined  to saturate myself

in your love song

       

We shared stars and sun together..

swayed to magic beneath moonlight

  we walked in valley clover

and dancing daffodils

taking all of life's chances filling

our love cup of flowing nectar

treasures to behold

throwing caution

to restless winds,

kissing stilted shadows goodbye

    as our playful hunger

clung to sunlight and romance

      saving summers reverie

you~my external gift

I wanted you here with me,

    never to leave my side

absorbing each other's spirit 

forever soulmates

      by the surrounding

  silver clouds lined in gold

        drifting in dreams

nights chasing down splendour

around river's bend..

and I~

 the deepest part of you playing

      mandolin's melody beneath

magnolia blossoms 'til the light of

      dawn doing what we chose

'twas in another time

     in the sweet hush of night

   you my love~

 were eternally mine

I don't read poems in a daily basis but this made me understand that instead of understanding every single word on the poem, you should understand how it feels and how the author wants you to feel. The poem is very cool and I really liked the second to the last stanza and "We shared stars and sun together..

Oh wow, Leon was one of the greatest songwriters. There a YouTube video of him playing A Song For You with Willie Nelson and Ray Charles. It's very sentimental. But I prefer the old solo version by Leon. That's one of my favorite songs. I hope you enjoy it.

Beautiful...in another time...
reminds me of an old love....and how different things could have evolved, but should they have, or are memories best?
Next to last stanza is such a keeper...the alliteration that is there but also broken up, m's and b's....
so cool.
