I'm here again
So let's begin To saturate my brain with the yorkshireman's gin, The same old sounds And the same old sights But a different beer And a different night Same old people, Same old chat, Same old feeling, But I'm used to that, Same old sense that I've fallen through the cracks Between the life that I desire and a fatal heart attack, Cause I'm too young to be this way, To be caught up in the sways of hedonism Gently given to decay Submerged in euphemisms, Dreams unbidden Broken by the world we live in, Looking back on what I think I've given I find my soul being slowly driven further past the point of no return, They always said that love would burn but I'm pretty f*****g sure it's not supposed to turn a man into an animal A human to a beast So dig away and feast upon the failure that I am Submerge yourself in every aspect of this reclusive accident And drink deep of my pain, Take shots of my agony, Pay no heed to the opinions that you might've heard and seen Because I promise that you've never truly met the depths of me, The ecstasy you've witnessed was a petal on the breeze of all the tides of dark emotion that my mind has now achieved, But I tried I paid my dues And told their lies I failed again but in my mind I know where I'm supposed to be; Alone and in the dark so that no one else can see The shattered remnants of the person I think I used to be © 2020 Fraser Murray |
