Where I am now

Where I am now

A Poem by Freya Scott-Rockel
"

This is not really a poem, it's more free-form writing but I couldn't find a category for this.

"

I draw the curtains, shutting out the stars.

I lay past dreams to rest, and conjure future fantasies I hope are not too fragile to hold. I draw the curtains, shutting out the stars.

Peace is fragile and passion sits at the other side the scale, magnetising exhilaration and danger.

I dream of somewhere in between, and a fire strong enough to ignite me without burning me to cinders.

I gather up the parts of me turned to ash and let them settle.

In my future I see a place past winter, olive trees dancing in the sun. I hope that happiness awaits me there, with a hesitant smile, strong enough to take me.
