My Mother’s Perfume

My Mother’s Perfume

A Poem by Franchezka Rosales

Roses, Lavander, or Oil

A great smell that pures into your Soul

Memories crawl back in bringing  them back to Life

Her thoughts remains

As her love does too

Her greatness, her courage and bravery

That smell that drags you into tears

Reminding you who gave you life

That smell that make you smile everytime you hear her name

Telling the last words she said

Holding the last thing she gave

That smell that makes a home a safe place

A place where you were taught to be who are

That smell that deeply peels into each stain from the other side of you

The one that causes you to fail

But drags you back to her name

That smell that left a ghost of her bedsheets

That never fades, and makes me afraid of who I am

That smell that is a certain shade

That invades every walk I take

That portrayes who I meant

That loved others, I dicovered who It was

And realized it was just my  Mothers Perfume.

This is very beautiful and touching! I can feel so much sadness and how much she is missed! Nice writing!

Truly beautiful. This invoked memories of my own mother and brought to my mind the aromas I associate with my childhood under her care and love. Was a good experience reading this.

Thanks
