Hoping for a Resurrection

Hoping for a Resurrection

A Poem by Gabby Nieves

Turn the screw
Fasten the lie
You say you'd be happier
If you could just die
I bought a bunch of pens
That came with no ink
So I set fire to my notebook
And threw it in the sink
But the fire caught my hair
And spread into my lungs
Wasn't long before it burned all three of my tongues
Turn the page
Close the book
Ba'alei Lashon Hara
Do you believe all that you hear?
Close your eyes
See with your ears
Fake it to the non-believers
With your bloody tears
Turn the screw
Fasten the lie
You know far too much
You cannot die
