Humans

Humans

A Poem by Gabby Nieves

Most of us are living to forget,
running from ourselves
in an attempt to feel something
I'd fix you if I could,
make you feel I knew how
To inspire,
To love
Drown the deserts in your mind
that only exist in pain
The taste of copper,
blood stained skin
If I knew how to be anything but empty,
I wouldn't need to run
Bruising,
Sickness,
Does anyone see
how dead we can become?

True logic and wisdom in your words.
"Bruising,
Sickness,
Does anyone see
how dead we can become?"
Fear and regret can be a heavy load to carry. I agree with your wisdom. Must learn from the mistake, leave them behind and try to do better. I enjoyed the poem. Left me with something to ponder. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

haha I like that one.. putting THAT in my notebook, thanks again for your words
"Drown the desserts in your mind"... (Deserts?)
I do see how dead we can become. Getting up at 5 in the morning, going to work, doing a job I despise, coming back home, and repeating the next day... that's definitely dead. But life is made worth living by writing... A way of running, maybe, but a necessary one. A way to visit worlds where I can say what I want, and make things more fun than they really are.
But you're right about not being able to fix anyone else. Two broken people can't fix each other... And all humans are broken.
I like the last bit of the poem especially. "If I knew how to be anything but empty, I wouldn't need to run. Bruising, sickness... Does anyone see how dead we can become?" Great flow, and great insights.

Love it. We're dying inside before life can even get a chance to stop our hearts

You asked how I feel Gabby...

I feel people get so tied in their selves they forget the world isn't only them and yeah life happens to good people AND bad people and sometimes no one sees it coming. Dealing is a pure b***h but we do as only we can for ourselves - til we can't.

I can't take away a person's pain or self guilts but I can understand they hurt. And can care...
did that fit?
