Can you see me now?

Can you see me now?

A Poem by SELF

They ask where have you been
Is it a place far from the bewilderment of the crowd?
or a place where you can walk amongst the stars at night
we want to look at you they say

the reply is
if you step out of the confinement of your residence and look closely
you'll see me walking beneath the ground with shear grit and determination
if you look closely
you'll see me fall swiftly from a tree adhering to the rhythm of the wind with a brush of gravity
if you hear closely
you'll feel my sweet tenderness wiggle through the branches, mingle through your neighborhood and touch your beautiful face
if you look closely
you'll see me floating across the open sky
if you look closely
you'll see me flapping my wings and leaving no trail
if you look closely
you'll see me beneath the soles of your feet
if you look closely
you'll see me in yourself
just look!

they say they want to see me, but I'm afraid they're missing that opportunity constantly
when you've missed me and are now seeking my comfort
witness my presence in the light of those fireflies we used to admire at that park across the road
that park that never lost its taste of green
remember my fragrance through those colorful flowers that blossomed in spring with the Sun's splendor

They ask where have i been
why I'm I always offline off grid off radar

I've always been here
most times my presence is veiled, sometimes my presence is witnessed
eventually, closer to you is where i'll always be
close enough like your jugular veins.

I came by, paused, listened - thought a bit, re-listened... lots of questions, good questions. but each answer is always our own. This left me thought-full in my silence.
